The Kama Sutra is a science of love and sex. This ancient wisdom of 4th century was provided for kings and the aristocrats of those time to enjoy the pleasure of sex. This guide is the most practical manual among the vast literature on Kama Sutra. The “Vatsyayana Kama Sutra” is considered the standard work on love in Sanskrit literature, and is always quoted as the chief guide to Hindu erotic literature. However, it is not claimed as his original work, but a compilation in which several authors were involved starting as early as 800 B.C. The reference is made to other authors, whenever appropriate, in the present guide to "KAMA SUTRA."
The Kama Sutra is for love and sex what Yoga is for physical and
mental well being. Kama Sutra is not a pornographic work. It is
merely an impartial and systematic study of one of the essential aspects of
existence. The refinement of love and the pleasure that include music and
other arts are only possible in a prosperous civilization, which is why the Kama
Shastra, the art of love, is linked to the Artha Shastra, the rules
of prosperity and the art of making money. Poverty is not a virtue.
According to Vatsyayana, indeed, it is an obstacle, not only to pleasure, but
also to ethics and virtue.
Kama Sutra should be
studied by all, both old and young men and women.
It can also be fairly commended to the student of social science and of humanity,
and above all to the student of those early ideas, which have gradually
filtered down through the sands of time, and which seem to prove that the
human nature of today is much the same as the human nature of the long ago. In
practicing the suggestions put forward in the pages of this guide, the readers,
it is hoped, will add an extra dimension to their everyday lives, full of
pleasure, youth and vitality.
